Dr. David Chinedu Okonkwo, MD, MBA
Board-Certified Neurologist | Adult & Child Neurology | Traumatic Brain Injury
Dr. David Chinedu Okonkwo is a board-certified neurologist with extensive experience in adult and pediatric neurology, traumatic brain injury, concussion, headache medicine, spinal injury, and complex neurological conditions. His clinical background spans hospital-based care, outpatient neurology, telehealth, medical education, and neurological consultation involving personal injury cases.
Throughout his career, Dr. Okonkwo has evaluated and managed a broad range of neurological conditions, including brain injuries, post-traumatic headaches, epilepsy, neuropathic pain, cognitive difficulties, and persistent neurological symptoms. He has practiced at Marshfield Clinic in Wisconsin and CHI St. Alexius Health in North Dakota, where his responsibilities included inpatient and outpatient neurological care, complex case evaluation, and individualized treatment planning. He also established and led a headache clinic at CHI St. Alexius Health.
Dr. Okonkwo has experience providing neurological consultation and medical reporting in personal injury cases, integrating clinical history, examination findings, imaging, diagnostic studies, and medical records to develop evidence-based assessments. His background includes evaluating the neurological effects of traumatic injuries and preparing reports addressing diagnoses, functional impact, prognosis, and future care needs when supported by the medical evidence.
In addition to his clinical practice, Dr. Okonkwo serves as a Clinical Instructor in Neurology at the University of North Dakota School of Medicine, contributing to the education and mentorship of medical trainees. He completed his neurology training and child neurology fellowship at the University at Buffalo.
Dr. Okonkwo holds a Doctor of Medicine (MD) and a Master of Business Administration in Healthcare Administration (MBA). He is certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology with Special Qualification in Child Neurology.
